Exclamation Unmetered | Unlimited | Unrestricted

have not seen a topic about this.
or there must be somewhere.
would just liek to know most of ur opinion.

i understand that "unlimited" resources is definitely
a not so so true package. no such thing in short.

but what's ur view on unmetered?
Unresrticted sounds similar to "Unlimited" though.

In practical terms all three mean the same: There is no limit placed by the host for the feature.

Let's say a host sells you an account with no limit imposed for disk space.
Is your disk space unlimited? Yes and No. Your host isn't limiting your account, however, since drive sizes aren't infinite the most that is available to you is the free space on the drive.

Is your disk space unmetered? Yes and No. Your host isn't monitoring your account for a specific amount of usage, however, disk space is still limited by free space on the drive.

Is your disk space unrestricted? Same answer again.

In reality if you purchase a plan with unlimited storage, you will encounter a limit the first time you use the account. Then it's a race between you and the other accounts for the free space.

you put yourself in the point of the hoster, everything cost money. the point goes down to how much can the host support you. it can just be a marketing gimick afterall.

i agree with you. that's why it's very suspicious if someone
offers an unlimited space. but it's more comfortable to
hear unmetered resources though they seem to have
the same implications.

well, i may need to disagree. there are definitely more hosts concious enough
to monitor & limits their client ratio. not for the money but for
the quality service that their clients would love to stay for.

Metered is like you are allocated some fixed amount or resources that you can use on per month basis. It can be like 100GB or 200GB bandwidth which is allocated for a month and you cannot exceed this amount of bandwidth. Unmetered means there is some fixed port speed allocated to your account like 10MBPS or 100MBPS. You can use as much bandwidth using the allocated port speed. There is no such fixed amount of bandwidth allocated in case of Unmetered plans.
