megahoc.v23

havent been here for quite some time.. hehe.

anyway i've been seeing this wireless connection everywhere.. from office, in the bus and at home!
the strength is 80% to full most of the times. it can be connected but i cant remember if i can do anything thereafter(maybe i'll try again).

i googled and realise that it is not just a singapore thing and it is detectable in florida as well. and in another result, it relates in to network virus!

anyone has any idea what the heck this megahoc is?
even wireless@sg doesnt find its way in sbs buses. u dont even get 100% connections in the library.

anyone anyone??

Q: I have been traveling in Florida and Georgia. I usually check for free Wi-Fi in each hotel where we stay and I frequent finding it. When I click on "View wireless networks" I always see "Megahoc ... connected ... no signal strength ... requires a network key." I cannot understand what Megahoc is and Googling this term did not help. I have seen Megahoc listed as an available network all up and down the east and west coasts of Florida. Can you help me understand what this is... and what I would have to do to tap into it? - Judy Bell.

A: Sad to say, it's just a notebook computer running in "WiFi AdHoc mode". If you were able to connect, you would not be connected to a network or the Internet, just to that other computer. It's possible to set up a local-only peer-to-peer network using this type of connection, but people almost never do it. 99.9% of the time all you're seeing is a laptop accidentally set to AdHoc mode.

Since so many people has it, I doubt it's just a virus or anti-virus companies would have come out with a fix for it. Just my 2 cents.
